Market Rabbit Breeds

This is just a brief list, placing just the most popular breeds under each category, for a more complete list see "Choosing A Breed".

Meat Market, includes most commercial typed breeds, the most popular are: New Zealand, Californian, Satin, and Champagne d' Argent

Fur Market:  Rex

Wool Market: French Angora, Giant Angora, German Angora*, English Angora, and Satin Angora

*German Angoras have not been excepted by ARBA but are still a popular wool breed because they are a large wool breed, have a cylindrical body type for easy shearing, and (like the giant angora) they have German wool which is considered the best for wool production.

About The Color Review

The "Rabbit Color Review" below is a list of almost every color of rabbit.  It includes every color shown in every breed that has been excepted by ARBA, plus several colors that are not shown in any breed but can still be produced by showable colors.  I have broken all the colors up into groups in the same fashion of ARBA, but I have also added some of my own notes.  Any color marked with "*" indicates that they may be genetically placed in one or more other color groups.  Any color marked with "+" means that they may have one or more alternative names.  Any  color with "-all 4 colors" added on means these colors can be found in and of the 4 basic colors black, blue, chocolate, or lilac, unless otherwise specified.  The order that the colors are listed in each group is the same, black line first (black then dilute black or blue) then the chocolate line (chocolate then dilute chocolate or lilac), every color is either black or chocolate, every color is also dominant or dilute.

I hope the color review can help you identify colors, you can also see  "Side by Side Color Comparisons" for a few pictures and some color descriptions.
